About UsAbout Debate.comDebate.com is a membership-based online debating service designed to provide an easy and free system for our members to intellectually challenge, debate and communicate with each other on the Web. Members create their own unique profiles and our technology provides a "ratio of disagreement" with the other members based on the information that each member provides, making it easy to select an opponent or a build group of friends. Members can challenge existing members or invite anyone to come and debate them on a topic of their choice selected from a wide range of categories including Politics, Sports, the Arts and Entertainment. A formal debate is between two members, the instigator and contender; but every member can participate in the debate by posting comments and voting on the winner once the closing arguments are presented. Debate.com is evolutionary in nature and will continue to add new features to encourage further education, discussion and communication among the members.
The concept of Debate.com was founded by WebCorp, LLC in the summer of 2007. WebCorp owns several other web entities including NewCars.org, DontVote.org, and Dork.com, but Debate.com was created out of a special passion for politics and debate by the husband and wife owners of WebCorp. While many dinner table conversations are centered around which team will win the next big sporting event, this couple's dinner time chatter focuses on current events in US and world politics. Because of their strong love for their country, they believe everyone should take the initiative to seek out the truth and be educated on the political, economic and social issues that we are faced with every day. They also think there should be a place where everyone whether Liberal, Conservative, Christian, Atheist, American, Mexican, etc. can go to voice their opinions and to share ideas on any topic they choose. Open dialogue and honest debate are how great businesses ideas are created, how democracies were developed and continue to thrive, and how Debate.com came to life. Our MissionThe mission of Debate.com is to create a global online arena for debate and open discussion that is safe, fun, and free. We will accomplish these goals by offering a technologically comprehensive website that hosts formal debate, and open communication for all who wish to participate. To ensure success, we will focus on empowering our members and encouraging clean and safe debate within the boundaries of our User Agreement and Privacy Statements. Revenues for Debate.com will be generated by advertisements for products and services targeted at the member community. Meet The TeamPhilip FerreiraPresident (Founder)
Phil studied Business Management and Computer Science at the University of Northern Colorado and St. Mary's College in Moraga, California. He has been developing Internet-based applications since 1996. Phil became an Internet entrepreneur in 1998 when he founded 321Gone, Inc. During the next 3-years Phil grew 321Gone.com to over 100,000 registered members, and millions of consumer-to-consumer auctions. Phil was solely responsible for the management and technical issues that accompany a fast-growing online community. 321Gone.com was sold in June, 2007. In 2002, Phil launched another proprietary online auction platform which was later renamed MyCar.com. Using his auction experience and online expertise, Phil designed the first automotive system whereby new car dealers bid against each other. Phil coined this proprietary design a "New Car Auction." Thousands of U.S. consumers have saved tens of millions of dollars on their new car purchase, without the headache that normally accompanies the car buying process. MyCar.com has also connected millions of U.S. consumers with new and used car dealers. MyCar.com was sold in December, 2006. After building several other online companies, including HomeBuying.com, Phil decided to go back to his first Internet thrill, developing online communities. In 2006, he built and launched DateFree.com. DateFree is a free online dating website with technology and features comparable to the big companies, with the added twist of friends and networking. Phil's personal mission for DateFree was to build a fun website where people from all over the world can network with their friends and enjoy online dating in a safe environment. DateFree.com was sold in October, 2007. After the sale of 321Gone.com, HomeBuying.com, MyCar.com and DateFree.com, Phil and his business partner decided to form a holding company for all of their future web endeavors. In Q1 of 2007, WebCorp, LLC was created. Today WebCorp is the owner of DontVote.org, NewCars.org, and Dork.com. Crystal FerreiraVice President (Founder)
