In a democracy, civil disobedience is an appropriate weapon in the fight for justice.

This is a classic debate topic, whose roots, at least within an American context, go back to the struggle for American independence when British colonists engaged in acts of civil disobedience to protest against British rule. The Boston Tea Party, an act of civil disobedience, helped spark the American Revolution. It was a far less dramatic act of civil disobedience, a single individual refusing to pay his taxes in protest of the Mexican-American war and slavery in the nineteenth century that...
There's no porn on the Internet

One of my mates reckons you can view pornography on the Internet but I don't believe him. There's nothing wrong with being a bit sexist sometimes.

We are not talking about sex discrimination, misogyny or chauvinism here - just a little bit of harmless, light-hearted recognition that men are different to women - surely that that fact should be celebrated rather than disguised? Sexism is a relatively recent concept, brought to the public's attention by the feminist movement towards the end of the last century, and which has only really received general acceptance in certain Western societies. I contend that men and women should not be...
It is acceptable to mock someone's religious befiefs.

People choose to follow religion in the same way as I choose to follow my local soccer team. When rival fans make fun of our club, we don't get offended, we simply make jokes back. Religious people feel entitled to insult normal people by calling us "heretics", "heathens" and "infidels", so they cannot then complain when we make disparaging remarks about their beliefs....
