| Beliefs: | I'm an agnostic that errs to the side of atheism and skepticism. Most people would probably label me as "liberal," but I don't like to be pigeonholed. I'm actually quite conservative in many ways, one might say. I have developed, to varying degrees, my own systems of ethics, political philosophy, an (admittedly poor, due to my own limitations) synthesis of cosmology, evolution, and pre-historical human history, an historical analysis of human nature, and at one time a large system of metaphysics. Long story. I'm a greatly gregarious grammarian. I like Neoclassical and Neue Sachlichkeit art, as well as Greco-Roman culture in general... other human being stuff. I'm an anti-corporate capitalist. I'm an individualist, but I have a strong sense of civic duty to the common good. |

Everyone knows about vote bombing, which is the practice of a small group pouring all their votes with no justification onto one person. Purposes for doing so may range from just wanting to raise each others' percentages to purposely trashing another person's win rate. Whether or not CWO, as made infamous by the other debate, exists to vote bomb or not, one fact is clear: vote bombing exists. I myself have been victim to it several times. The first few by a single person who made several a...
Belief in an afterlife negatively impacts the world of practical affairs

This debate is about how the belief in an afterlife, be it Christian or otherwise, negatively impacts the temporal world in a large way. The issue is not whether "god" exists or not - this is basically irrelevant in this context as religion and its doctrines certainly exist, and this is where the problem stems from. Believers, whether they realize it or not, have faith in these doctrines and their fruitions, and not necessarily in an actual god, should such a thing exist, or what he/she/it may h...
Obama will not be our next President

Obama will not be our next President. I have three arguments for this stance on this debate. 1.RACE-Unfortunately America is not ready for a African American President. Racism is not far enough in our past yet. I am a Union member. Out of the twenty seven people I work with there are three Republicans, including myself. The "dems" I work with were split, twenty for Clinton, four for Obama. When Clinton lost the nomination twenty of the "Dems" said they would NOT vote for Obama. Race was the m...
The user known as "brittwaller" should not have lost the following debates

I don't really have the time for a full-on debate right now, but I wanted to check out the newer features on the site, as well as clean up my record a little. Now, I have been vexed for some time by the fact that my Total War community website has better-behaved members, and can settle on a standard of civility so much easier than this site, which is, ostensibly, devoted to debate and is so full of "intellectuals." That's only a side point (not an analogy), but is relevant because I believe...
When Nothing hears a tree fall it makes no Sound - When Nothing sees an Orange it is not Orange!

Obviously debated in the Past, i ask you please do not to vote unless you have read the debate thoroughly. I hold that a sound only exists in so far as it is heard and that colors only exist in so far as they are seen. Sound defined: The sensation produced by stimulation of the organs of hearing by vibrations transmitted through the air or other medium. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/sound A refute any claims about the identity of sound to the vibration itself. (i'm not defin...
