Personally, I am agnostic. There are quite a few people that would disagree with me. I find it absolutley impossible to prove if there is a God or not. I choose not to believe in a higher power because I think it is a waste of time. However, many people would tell me I'm wrong.

I would like to know why people think it is so wrong.

well i don't exactly have a lot of time now to debate this but ill try

"I find it absolutley impossible to prove if there is a God or not"

not true that are many indirect facts than could lead evidence to a supreme being

"I would like to know why people think it is so wrong."

Because your beliefs differ from others. its a normal human response , to resent those who do not share the same beliefs beliefs

I understand that, however I don't think that there is a God. Personally, if it ever turned out there would be proof of him then I would of course believe in him. But I need proof not faith. I get that it's a natural human response but I never tell someone that their wrong because their Christian, why do I have to be harassed by Christians?

"if it ever turned out there would be proof of him then I would of course believe in him. But I need proof not faith"

God without faith, interesting idea. IF we knew for sure the is a God, than every thing we would do would not be from free will. Additionally would not God want a person who believe in HIm when given no direct evidence, Taking a leap of faith.

"but I never tell someone that their wrong because their Christian, why do I have to be harassed by Christians?"

Why do christian harass you? very simple that think you are being apathetic.

off-topic, but is it not a normal human response to spread our beliefs? i.e. The Cold War.

First of all, it's fine to "spread your beliefs" but when you won't leave me alone about it, then it's a problem.

I understand what you're saying, but if there is proof then there's no reason for me to not believe. If God were to have a problem with that then I guess I'll deal with it then. But I don't find there being proof during my lifetime so I guess I'll die with faith in nothing.

Proof is something that a lot of people rely on. I'm not the only one. Proof is something that runs our world. Without it there wouldn't be math or science. We would know nothing. God is no different.

Well we each chose our own faith, so if you feel fine as agnostic thats all right. what ever you chose to believe in must fit the person

sorry I got side tracked and just hit enter before wondering off. I voted pro on the grounds that agnosticism is a belief was conceded in the last line "what ever you chose to believe in must fit the person"

"I find it absolutley impossible to prove if there is a God or not."

Really? I find it absolutely easy, through use of a simple tool called logic, and defining your terms!

"
An OMNIPOTENT being has all powers imaginable, and can perform any ACTION. CREATING something more powerful than omnipotent is an ACTION. It is not possible to CREATE something more powerful than omnipotent. Therefore, contradiction.

1. O->A (assumption, definition of omnipotent)
2. A->C (Assumption, dare you to defy it.)
3. ~C (assumption, definition of omnipotent)
4. O (Assumption of the existence of God)
5. A (4,1 by arrow out rule of logic.
6. C (5,2 by arrow out rule).
7. C & ~C (6,3, by ampersand in rule, CONTRADICTION, check premises).

"

This immediately invalidates any conception of God as omnipotent, which would invalidate most of the mainstream monotheistic religions today, including Christianty, Islam, and Judaism. I am quite open to any comers giving me their own conceptions of "god" or gods, most of them can be disproven almost as easily.

Also, isn't agnosticism the lack of a belief, rather than a belief in it's own right?

If there were an all-powerful deity, I don't think he / she / it would allow all the debates about the whether religion exists or not to persist, or the arguments between Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, etc. to continue.

He / she / it would just take over all TV and radio broadcasts and all the internet sites and say:

"Right, that's it, I've had enough of all this squabbling, quit it now! If you are really want to know who I am, I'm Xenu the alien ruler of the Galactic Confederacy and 75 million years ago I brought billions of people to Earth in Douglas DC-8 airliners, stacked them around volcanoes and blew them all up with hydrogen bombs. Their souls then clustered together, stuck to the bodies of the living and if you don't believe me ask my son who is currently on Earth masquerading as a deranged midget from Hollywood whose favourite hobby is jumping up and down on people's sofas like a feckin mental patient" or whatever…
