Death penalty

I am against the death penalty for many reasons, mainly because the logic "lets kill to show that killing is wrong" doesn't make much sense to me, it also somewhat encourages "you do wrong to me, i do the same back to you" but yeah this argument can have a lot of views based on religious beliefs, etc. so vote on who has better debating skills mainly.

I am for the death penalty for one reason, and one reason only. I am for it because if someone kills, they should understand the pain and suffering that innocent, and sometimes helpless, victim had to go through when they were killing them. The past arguments that have gone to the supreme court have been senseless in my opinion because all of them have been about a convict going through too much pain during the process of execution. As far as I'm concerned, the convict should go through the same type of death that they put their victim through.
