life is full of ups and downs.. it is a vicious circle..which is full of sorrows and happiness.. when we see onion it is covered with several layers similarly a human life is covered with several roles.. and each role is full of responsiblities which might look good from outer side (like an onion) but as u come across it different phases u start realising the obstacles, hurdles -destiny brings for u.. when we cut onion tears comes out of our eyes.. similarly when someone hurts our feeling or doesn't meet to our expectation we feel depressed and undergo same situation..
"life is full of ups and downs.. it is a vicious circle..which is full of sorrows and happiness.. when we see onion it is covered with several layers similarly a human life is covered with several roles.. and each role is full of responsiblities which might look good from outer side (like an onion) but as u come across it different phases u start realising the obstacles, hurdles -destiny brings for u.. when we cut onion tears comes out of our eyes.. similarly when someone hurts our feeling or doesn't meet to our expectation we feel depressed and undergo same situation.." A Shrek debate, how fun. :D Onions and Humans are from different Kingdoms (Animalia, Plantae) "life is full of ups and downs.. it is a vicious circle..which is full of sorrows and happiness" An onion is not sentient, nor can it experience emotion. "when we see onion it is covered with several layers similarly a human life is covered with several roles" Onion layers perform the same role, nutrient storage, and the transmission of water and nutrients to other layers. "might look good from outer side (like an onion) but as u come across it different phases u start realising the obstacles, hurdles -destiny brings for u." An onion's different phases are merely about its biological development and with the vagaries of nature; the onion's life is not set in destiny. "when we cut onion tears comes out of our eyes.. similarly when someone hurts our feeling or doesn't meet to our expectation we feel depressed and undergo same situation.." Your analogy is flawed. I."when we cut onion tears comes out of our eyes" Self > action > tears II."when someone hurts our feeling or doesn't meet to our expectation we feel depressed and undergo same situation" Other > action > tears To be analogous the other person would have to cry when they hurt us; or the onion cry when we cut it. So there we have it, the onion is not like us. |

In the event that you really don't know where the hole in reasoning was and you need someone to name the fallacy for you, I dug up my old philosophy notes. You committed "Dicto simpliciter". If this is the case, it would seem that in fact it is you who is clueless.
brittwaller: You stated: "Ten votes, guys? That's pretty sad. I know it's difficult for some of you to comprehend, but it only proves your own level of stupidity when you so unashamedly vote on a topic because of the avatar, which was obviously the case here. Grow up children." You then called those who "jumped on my bandwagon" buffoons. Then you changed your own avatar to a pic of an attractive woman and stated "Works like a charm;)" = hypocrisy.
In order to clarify, the statement "Anyone smell a lack of reading comprehension skills?" would've been "Argumentum ad Hominem" only if I had not first addressed your prior statement. Additionally, I believe you're confusing "strawman" (the fallacy of refuting a caricatured or extreme version of somebody's argument, rather than the actual argument they've made) with "Tu quoque" (the fallacy of defending an error in one's reasoning by pointing out that one's opponent has made the same error.)
Smell ya later!
I think you might have scared them a bit, britt :p
Throw down or walk away
Britt:)
Something feels immature.
Like you here - this is "Argumentum ad Hominem": "Anyone smell a lack of reading comprehension skills?"
Or just below, when you asked me if I wanted to talk about hypocrisy - that could easily be a "straw man."
Another straw man would be, in this context, the "argument" concerning win ratio you just provided. You brought it up. To what end? No one mentioned this, so why are you talking about it?
So now, please: feel free to critique me in the same manner (hint: believe it or not, the link was for your own intellectual growth.) If you're unable, put the original point (the fact that you were immature and intellectually dishonest during this vote, and encouraged others to behave in the same way) to a debate. If you cannot do this... well, continue digging a bigger hole I suppose.
Um... Jamcke... brittwaller just supplied you with a list of all of them and their explanations... How clueless are you?
If you don't know the name of it, then, explain it.
Spiral: Right off the top of my head, I can't recall the exact name of this fallacy because it's been a few since I've taken philosophy, but you don't have to know the exact name of a fallacy to say that someone has committed a logical fallacy due to the fact that they made a statement in which they used bad reasoning.
brittwaller: You want to talk about hypocrisy? Ha! How about you look at your own comments.
BTW: Win ratio? I've only had one debate in which I highly suspect the debaters I'm addressing voted against me in. So what? Win ratios have proven to be meaningless on this account because they're too easily manipulated. When I decide to start debating issues I care to debate about again, I'll delete this account and start a new one.

Win ratio?
