life is full of ups and downs.. it is a vicious circle..which is full of sorrows and happiness.. when we see onion it is covered with several layers similarly a human life is covered with several roles.. and each role is full of responsiblities which might look good from outer side (like an onion) but as u come across it different phases u start realising the obstacles, hurdles -destiny brings for u.. when we cut onion tears comes out of our eyes.. similarly when someone hurts our feeling or doesn't meet to our expectation we feel depressed and undergo same situation..
"life is full of ups and downs.. it is a vicious circle..which is full of sorrows and happiness.. when we see onion it is covered with several layers similarly a human life is covered with several roles.. and each role is full of responsiblities which might look good from outer side (like an onion) but as u come across it different phases u start realising the obstacles, hurdles -destiny brings for u.. when we cut onion tears comes out of our eyes.. similarly when someone hurts our feeling or doesn't meet to our expectation we feel depressed and undergo same situation.." A Shrek debate, how fun. :D Onions and Humans are from different Kingdoms (Animalia, Plantae) "life is full of ups and downs.. it is a vicious circle..which is full of sorrows and happiness" An onion is not sentient, nor can it experience emotion. "when we see onion it is covered with several layers similarly a human life is covered with several roles" Onion layers perform the same role, nutrient storage, and the transmission of water and nutrients to other layers. "might look good from outer side (like an onion) but as u come across it different phases u start realising the obstacles, hurdles -destiny brings for u." An onion's different phases are merely about its biological development and with the vagaries of nature; the onion's life is not set in destiny. "when we cut onion tears comes out of our eyes.. similarly when someone hurts our feeling or doesn't meet to our expectation we feel depressed and undergo same situation.." Your analogy is flawed. I."when we cut onion tears comes out of our eyes" Self > action > tears II."when someone hurts our feeling or doesn't meet to our expectation we feel depressed and undergo same situation" Other > action > tears To be analogous the other person would have to cry when they hurt us; or the onion cry when we cut it. So there we have it, the onion is not like us. |

Additionally, even if I was worked up, to say that mature / easy going people can't get worked up on occasion is a fallacy.
brittwaller: There are certain things in life I do take very seriously, and I am a highly principled person, but what we apply our principles to is a matter of personal preference. Again, I don't take a one round Shrek debate too seriously, and neither do at least some of the people who voted pro.
You indeed implied that every member who voted pro stupid by stating "Ten votes, guys? That's pretty sad. I know it's difficult for some of you to comprehend, but it only proves your own level of stupidity when you so unashamedly vote on a topic because of the avatar, which was obviously the case here. Grow up children." You can have a semantical debate about the meaning of your statement, but we all know what you meant so cut the b. s. man.
In my last comment, I stated that "Granted, if I had partaken in this debate and started to lose even though I shouldn't, I would be a little annoyed. This is not the case". Spiral is not losing. Anyone smell a lack of reading comprehension skills?

Jamcke: I am not one to dole out advice, but perhaps you should take life more seriously... there are these little things called "principles" that some people have. So the answer to your first question is yes.
Also, I did not say you or anyone in particular were stupid. However, by your comments before and after my first, you have characterized yourself in this manner, as well as the proponent of intellectually dishonest voting. But by your last comment, if it were you in Spiral's place, then you would feel slighted (but it isn't, so you don't care.)Clever... Anyone smell indefensible hypocrisy?
So that will be it. If you have anything else to say, please make it into a debate instead of starting a flame war.
peace
Britt
brittwaller: Certainly spiral won this debate hands down, and should have, but does it really matter if it's a blowout if she's still winning?
You claim that you are correct by calling me (and other members) stupid and that there's nothing to "get over", but I beg to differ. Who are you to call anyone stupid for not taking the number of votes on a one round Shrek debate on debate.com too seriously? Granted, if I had partaken in this debate and started to lose even though I shouldn't, I would be a little annoyed. This is not the case, however, and you have no call to assume some sort of authoritarian role by patronizing other members. Clearly, you take yourself WAY to seriously, and you need to get over yourself.
