What constitutes a Christian? The belief that Christ is our savior right? The belief that there is one god right? The belief in the bible correct? Mormons believe in all of these things, and all we have is an extra book (the book of mormon) to separate us from plain Christians.

Thank you, to my opponent for opening this debate. As a Christian, I find this debate will be rather entertaining...

Morman Beliefs:

"Soon after the founding of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Prophet Joseph Smith wrote thirteen Articles of Faith, which are straightforward statements of basic beliefs in the Mormon Church, many of which set the Church apart from other religious denominations. In a similar effort we have chosen to divide Mormonism into a few basic groups of beliefs which will help you understand the Church. "

Christian Beliefs:

As a Christian, I'll handle this one. Unlike Mormans, Christians believe Jesus and the prophets came from the Cradle of Life and down. Christians beliueve in a more steadfast and tightly binding doctrine, as the one written for Mormans was a bit shady and I will explain that later. Christians and Mormans share the same belief in one called Jesus Christ. The Morman Jesus, however, is not the same when it comes to teachings, origins, and person lifestyles.
(Also, as a side note pertaining to this argument, Mormans believe it is alright to inbreed and marry more than one spouse whereas Christians do not.)

Thanks,
-EG

I'm afraid my opponent may not care that there is a debate going on here. I have lost sleep over this debate... Okay, that was a lie but it is still quite rude...

You know what to do, I'm done.

Thanks for literally nothing, my opponent, and thank you judges for seeing that... well that I don't forfeit rounds...

This debate is irrevocably unanimous, If you do not vote CON, you must be facing some personal problems at the moment or have no logical sense whatsoever.

Thank you,

"draxxt, it's funny... because on my Mormonis debates, they usually forfeit as well! It would be frustrating to believe to fully in something so easily disproved."

Don't assume they're forfeiting because you've disproved anything.

Though the dictionary definition of Christian may give a limited scope of difference between Christians and Mormons (dictionary definition would include Mormons) there is a plethora of Christian writings, scholarly debate, dogma, doctrine, and theology in which the Christian world and Mormons disagree. In the orthodox sense of the word, Mormons are not Christian. Their church does not identify it's followers as Christian, rather "Mormons". The final prophet recognized by Christianity is Jesus Christ, and Mormons recognize Joseph Smith as a prophet.

Several religious and scholastic authorities classify Mormonism as a sect (not a cult) rather than true orthodox Christianity because of their belief in Joseph Smith as a prophet, as well as other theological, doctrinal, and dogmatic differences. Draaxt may not have argued these points, but given the lack of argument we are left with our own knowledge of the issue, and my knowledge suggests Mormons are not Christians. If anyone would like to debate this point I would be most happy to oblige (not to "win", but for the sake of debate).

I think this is tantamount to saying The Nation of Islam is and Islamic organization, when in fact it is not. Neither is Al Qaeda, and other terrorist organizations. The Moonies are not Christian either, though their members would die defending the right to be called Christians...

Not necessarily.

Each side presented one argument. There were no rebuttals on either side. So, a voter can make a decision based off of what arguments he/she buys and what logically makes sense.

There's nothing bad about voting against someone who wa wrong.

seriously, did three mormons vote pro??
although by dictionary definition(Professing belief in Jesus as Christ or following the religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus.) draaxt is dead wrong, Pro did not even argue... which means that correct or not, draaxt is the winner.

I second that.

Even though the forfiets look bad, considering that there was only one round, we can judge it just off of the two opposing cases.

Learn a lesson in humility and don't talk down to the people who get to determine if you win or lose. Sounding pompous is a good way to lose votes.

"Christians beliueve in a more steadfast and tightly binding doctrine, as the one written for Mormans was a bit shady and I will explain that later."

And the origin of the regualr Bible isn't shady?

"(Also, as a side note pertaining to this argument, Mormans believe it is alright to inbreed and marry more than one spouse whereas Christians do not.)"

That's kind of a moot point. It doesn't make them non-Christian.

And what about Adam and Eve? Christianity requires a belief in inbreeding.
