You also didn't explain the passage in Romans I provided. I agree with you that most politicians are not living Christian lifestyles. Even the ones who claim it. I would argue that for different reasons though.

Re: DanDebates. You still didn't explain the Old Testament examples of GOD telling Israel to wipe pagan nations out completely. In fact, there were times when GOD punished Israel for NOT completely destroying nations. The point that Jesus is making in the New Testament is that no one should ever try to spread Christianity by force. His kingdom is not of this world. Deadly force for self-defense or the defense of others is not what He's talking about.

Self defense as you put it is as much about preservation as it is about destruction. You are not preserving life by killing the killers. That's not preserving life at all. Preserving life means to be committed to completely non violent resolution.

Since we know that GOD is perfect we know that there must be some kind of reconciliation between these two seemingly completely different orders. All GOD's laws reflect His perfect character. "Do not murder" reflects a part of GOD's character. GOD created man and said His creation was good. We ought not destroy something GOD has said was good. We should preserve something GOD created and said was good. Therefore, with "do not murder" comes preserve life. 2 Samuel 11:1 says "It happened in the spring of the year, at the time when kings go out to battle." There was a designated time of the year when pagan kings went out to battle!! Without having an army built up, without going to war, Israel would have been slaughtered. If Israel had allowed themselves to be slaughtered then they wouldn't have been preserving life would they? We have a right and a responsibility to protect ourselves and others. This is all the government was doind when we attacked Iraq. Protecting ourselves and protecting the citizens of Iraq. Romans 13:4 says "For he [the government] is GOD's minister to you for good. People often get confused as to what Jesus is talking about. When Jesus says love your enemy, He is saying pray for them, earnestly desire their salvation. Work hard for their salvation. After that however, He says that if He wanted to He could call down legions of angels and win a battle.
