The topic I have chosen to debate on is "Should The Paparazzi Be banned?" I believe that the answer is no it should not be banned. The paparazzi should not be banned for many reasons. Photographers are free to take pictures of celebrities, it might be a little strange that there is a camera taking pictures of you but there is no law against it... It shows we are a open society, it boosts business for many companies and celebrities for example: when someone popular is wearing a special type of clothing, people will go and try and buy it.

Please do not vote on what you think is better but who did a better job.

The paparazzi should be banned

1. Yes there is a law against what the paparazzi does, it violates the 1st amendment because they infringe upon their right to happiness, especially when they hound celebrities.

2. It doesn't "boost" the economy by promoting cloths and things. If we see a person's picture taken by the paparazzi its often for the person and a story on them the cloths are often forgotten. Plus there are other ways of advertising for items such as the T.V radio or internet, far more easier ways to advertise.

For a few of my own arguments

3. The paparazzi have harmful effects and cause celebrities to often use drugs or develop unsafe habits. Ex. Britney Spears, Olsen twins, Lindsey Lohan This endangers their lives at a daily basis.

4. If we keep up in the society we are in with the paparazzi as is and we allow it to continue we will create an infinitely regressive world. To stop this we need to ban the paparazzi to protect the world.

And I agree vote for me due to the best arguments :)

I voted on who is correct, not on who made inaccurate statements. Therefore, I voted Con. Neither side did well, but the Pro side was/is COMPLETELY wrong about nearly everything they said.

although Con forfeited, he made a valid argument: there is no law that says they can't.

Pro made no valid argument, i don't see a single one who got a decent support by argument. I only see unfunded statements and a totally wrong one (about first amendement)

Also, I guess it should also be mentioned that "happiness" is NOT mentioned in the 1st Amendment to the Constitution. The mention of "happiness" is from the Declaration of Independence, which is a completely different document.

Yeah, thanks, Pluto2493, I was about to mention that. I am taking a 1st Amendment course this semester in college and right now we're focusing on freedom of the press (and speech). The ignorance of the average person is so pathetic.
