I think stem cell research is a good thing and should continue.

I will wait for my opponents before making my first argument.

R1 will be declaring of your position.

R2 will be for opening statements.

R3 and R4 will be for rebuttals.

R5 will be for concluding statements.

I would like to thank my opponent and wish them good luck.

((Since I am really bored, I have decided to debate this topic.))

Since you think stem cell research is "good" and you wish to continue it, I think that stem cell research is "bad". Period. Therefore, what my side says is that stem cell research is simply bad and I wish to discontinue it.

I will now establish my points.

The type of stem-cell research is embryonic.

It is good because:

1.It makes use of embryos that would otherwise be destroyed to help find cures for diseases such as diabetes, Parkinson's disease, Multiple Sclerosis, and also muscle repair.

2.The potential to help somebody with a serious disease far outweighs the "potential life" that the zygote poses.

3.A life is more valuable than a potential life when it comes to ending the suffering of the disabled.

Also, the embryos are donated, not simply taken without permission.

And just a little bit of extra info on the subject: http://www.stemcellresearchnews.com...

What are you talking about murdered children? Did you even look at the sources I gave?

i am so hypocrytical with this one because i dont agree with abortion because it is murder u cant say it sint because that is exactly what it is. But it is legal and why not let some good come out of it. however if stemcells can really be able to rebuild parts of the brain etc. i would still chose to end abortion over using murdered children to enhance lives.

Oh thanks. I should have said that that wasn't necessary, but thanks for the consideration.

Grr, sorry about that, for some reason I couldn't open the website yesterday and I was all ready.

"What a let down. I hope you do argue with me...regardless of your structure and setup."

Don't worry I plan to.

"Anyhow, I don't see what's so wrong with the setup. :| It maybe quite useless but other than that, there's nothing really wrong with it."

The only thing really useless was the first round, although for all I knew the person could have been for it but instead of arguing it was bad they could have argued it was unnecessary because there are alternatives.

"Can you point out a worse established set of debates? I debated you as to whether the Koran held men and women equal and won because it obviously doesn't. You then wanted to couch the topic in some sort of maybe-sorta language. -- That's just poor planning on your part and perhaps hyperbole on mine."

If I actually cared enough to look probably. I'm not going to redebate it with you, it's over and done. That debate doesn't make all of my debates bad.

Anyhow, I don't see what's so wrong with the setup. :| It maybe quite useless but other than that, there's nothing really wrong with it.
