I think stem cell research is a good thing and should continue.

I will wait for my opponents before making my first argument.

R1 will be declaring of your position.

R2 will be for opening statements.

R3 and R4 will be for rebuttals.

R5 will be for concluding statements.

I would like to thank my opponent and wish them good luck.

((Since I am really bored, I have decided to debate this topic.))

Since you think stem cell research is "good" and you wish to continue it, I think that stem cell research is "bad". Period. Therefore, what my side says is that stem cell research is simply bad and I wish to discontinue it.

I will now establish my points.

The type of stem-cell research is embryonic.

It is good because:

1.It makes use of embryos that would otherwise be destroyed to help find cures for diseases such as diabetes, Parkinson's disease, Multiple Sclerosis, and also muscle repair.

2.The potential to help somebody with a serious disease far outweighs the "potential life" that the zygote poses.

3.A life is more valuable than a potential life when it comes to ending the suffering of the disabled.

Also, the embryos are donated, not simply taken without permission.

And just a little bit of extra info on the subject: http://www.stemcellresearchnews.com...

Can you point out a worse established set of debates? I debated you as to whether the Koran held men and women equal and won because it obviously doesn't. You then wanted to couch the topic in some sort of maybe-sorta language. -- That's just poor planning on your part and perhaps hyperbole on mine.

"Seriously, you setup some of the worst debates I've seen Hellkat."

The worst... I don't see how they are the worst.

"What's the point of this debate structure? R1 is being wasted by them "stating their position" -- obviously their position has been determined and they will be Con. You made this clear both by selecting to be Pro and mentioning your support of the resolution in your own R1. If you are going to be making your opening statement fist anyway, why not just do it in R1? Unless this is a specific kind of debate...?"

There is a method to my madness. It wasn't for any real purpose just that I wanted the rounds to be equal and I wasn't ready to establish my points at that time so for the first round it was just basically useless, yeah, but that's why I made it 5 rounds. I knew going into it that that was going to be a redundant round.

My boredom has persuaded me to debate on this topic. I hope that my reasons do not disturb you.

CON: I am opposed to doing research by mass murdering people and forcibly injecting them with stem cells.

I'll assume that's the topic.

TheLwerd is right. Round one you are forced to say you oppose stem-cell research. That's not much of a round.

Seriously, you setup some of the worst debates I've seen Hellkat.
