FIVE DOESN'T EQUAL 10.

5 = 5

10 = 10

There's new FREAKIN WAY I CAN LOSE THIS DEBATE.

AND PAY NO REGARD TO THE FIRST COMMENTER BELOW. HE IS ACTUALLY JEALOUS OF MY SUPERIOR MATH SKILLS.

After your third revision, I got of seeing this change and change while you simply attack me for pointing out that you've posted a topic that's impossible to debate.

I will offer a mathematical proof for why 5 = 10.

*******************************
Let t = a + b and a = 5 and b = 10

1. a + b = t
2. (a + b)(a - b) = t(a - b)
3. a^2 - b^2 = ta - tb
4. a^2 - ta = b^2 - tb
5. a^2 - ta + (t^2)/4 = b^2 - tb + (t^2)/4
6. (a - t/2)^2 = (b - t/2)^2
7. a - t/2 = b - t/2
8. a = b

********************************

Fairly simple to follow with a rudimentary understanding of algebra.

I just ran into the "No true Scotsman" fallacy on that page, pretty interesting also.

The style over substance fallacy is fallacy I myself have had trouble believing was a fallacy. I was arguing with someone and called them out for an ad hominem attack and they threw this fallacy in my face.

Here it is: http://en.wikipedia.org...

Oh.... wtf is the substance of style fallacy? Attempting to tell a judge that their judging paradigm is a fallacy is interesting.

No, step five does flow into step 6. (a-b/2)^2 is going to be a^2 - ab + b^2/4. (Substitute t for b)

The only part of this that one work is the dividing by 0 part.

RUDENESS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ARGUMENTS. YOU ARE COMMITTING THE STYLE OVER SUBSTANCE FALLACY.

Its not really bias (I didn't vote off preconcieved notions). I voted off rudeness. An unusual RFD, but a valid one nonethless

I STAND BEHIND YOUR RIGHT TO VOTE OUT OF BIAS, PUBLICFORUMG-D. AND YOU'RE WRONG TARZAN AS YOU CAN'T PROVE THAT I MADE THAT MODIFICATION TO WIKIPEDIA. HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE OUTWITTED THREE TIMES IN A ROW?

I voted for you anyway though. :D

Step 5 does not equal step 6. I did the proof below that.

Step 7 doesn't seem wrong either.

I'm pretty sure it does... I'm a little rusty on my algebra, but I think it's right... anyway, the whole thing works with the numbers until step 7 anyway. And I just had to provide a proof that was convincing in the abstract - lol
