School and religion should go hand in hand because some children are not exposed to god in their homes. If we can teach them literary arts we can teach them about god.
Which god shall we present to students? Thor? Zeus? Maybe Allah? Schools couldn't teach religion without specifically endorsing one over others, which is a violation of the separation of Church and State. Now if schools want to have a Theology class, that is just peachy with me. Religion is significant in historical and current events, and a study of how it impacts us would be beneficial. There is, however, a big difference between that and chapel. |

Sure, those guys said those things--but they weren't the only people at the Convention. The Document was a negotiation and a realization of the best kind of government.
Their personal statements are not the highest law in the land.
Fisher Aimes, the writer of the first amendment said, "The Bible should not only remain in schools, but it should be the primary textbook"
While he is not a founding father, Abraham Lincoln made a wonderful point worth noting. He realized that what we teach children will effect our nation forever. He said, "The philosophy of the schoolroom in one generation will be the philosophy of government in the next"
