With the current constitution, current bans on gay marriage in any state are unconstitutional.

1. The 14th amendment of the Constitution states that "no state shall deny equal protection under the laws." A ban on gay marriage says that straight couples can get these rights, but gay couples cannot. 2. The Supreme Court case, Loving vs. Virginia, states that marriage is "civil right." This case was referring to interracial marriage in the 60s. But there is a direct and obvious parallel. 3. The Full Faith and Credit Clause (Article 4, Section 1) of the constitution states that "Full Fa...
The United States government or governments (federal, state or otherwise) should not ban trans fats.

1. Yes. Trans fats are unhealthy. But we live in a free society. We should be able to live and choose what foods we eat even if they are fatty. "No one can read our Constitution without concluding that the people who wrote it wanted their government severely limited; the words 'no' and 'not' employed in restraint of government power occur 24 times in the first seven articles of the Constitution and 22 more times in the Bill of Rights." http://www.libertarianquotes.com/quotes1.html 2. Civil unions are unconstitutional and therefore no substitute for the legalisation of gay marriage.

1. The 14th amendment of the Constitution states that "no state shall deny equal protection under the laws." This means that gay couples and straight couples are supposed to be teated equally, but the law is not the case. One is called marriage. One is called a civil union. 2. The Supreme Court case, Loving vs. Virginia, states that "MARRIAGE" is a "civil right." This case was referring to interracial marriage in the 60s. But there is a direct and obvious parallel. 3. The Supreme Court cas...
The Defense of Marriage Act is unconstitutional.

Gay marriage is supa cool. 1. The 14th amendment of the Constitution states that "no state shall deny equal protection under the laws." The Defense of Marriage Act forces the government to discriminate against gay couples who want to get married. Gay couples are clearly not protected equally under the laws. 2. The Supreme Court case, Loving vs. Virginia, states that marriage is "civil right." This case was referring to interracial marriage in the 60s. But there is a direct and obvious para...
Prostitution should be legal in each state.

1. Prostitutes are not hurting society. They are simply working hard. Naturally, there is no ban on prostitution. It is simply another profession and the capitalist, free government should not hinder this form of work. It is a victimless crime and nobody is hurt. There is no purpose in banning prostitution. 2. One great reason to legalize prostitution: Right now, prostitutes are forced to hire pimps. Pimps are unfortunate. They beat prostitutes and can force them to do whatever they want them...
Each state should allow same sex couples to adopt children.

1. The United States Constitution's Fourteenth Amendment, Section 1 states, "no state shall… deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws." Not offering equal protection to gays under marriage laws is unconstitutional. 2. The Declaration of Independence said "all men are created equal." And on the front of the Supreme Court building the words are etched in "Equal Justice Under Law." Equality is a basic American principle that should be respected. 3. The Ameri...
The United States federal government should legalize and recognize same sex marriage.

3. Most hosp...
The United States federal government should reverse the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" law.
The Don't Ask, Don't Tell Act is economically and morally repugnant. - We spend much of the taxpayer's dollars to train good soldiers and then these expensive soldiers are suddenly discharged for a discrminatory reason as sexual orientation. - Hundreds of soldiers have been discharged even though we need these soldiers desperately. - Arabic linguists are in high demand and low supply in the military, but these people are being let go of the military for the purpose of sexual orientation...
John McCain will make a better president than Barack Obama

As many of you may know, Obama has just captured the Democratic Nomination for president. Also, as many of you may know, McCain captured the Republican Nomination for president back in February. Thus, the stage is set for one of the most important presidential race in recent history. Now, that the candidates have been finally decided, I strongly advocate that McCain will be a better president than Barack Obama in terms of experience, national policy, and foreign policy. ========= On to th...
Victimless crime laws should be repealed.
This is a continuation of a previous debate. Let's see if anybody can win on this topic. Our police spend a lot of their time fighting victimless crimes like prostitution, gambling, and drugs. Nobody is hurt but the police are being overstretched for these crimes. The police could be elsewhere, fighting to help people, instead of hurting people to stop them from hurting themselves. Our jails are filled with drug users, drug sellers, prostitutes and gamblers. Parole allows criminals to leav...
