They also believed in false gods and mythological tales that are quite obviously not possible in real life and defied logic. How is it then that such an insane and debased group of people have any say in what is "logical" or not? Why should we listen to anything that comes from a barbarous time in history where people assumed that it was okay for adults to make love to children? To even think they knew anything about what should be deemed "logical" or not is simply preposterous. And aside from the historical aspects of where the whole "ad hominem fallacy" comes from, the concept itself is absurd. Say if a man who has been convicted of murder says that it is wrong to murder people. Should we just take his advice the same way we would as a person who has been known to be a morally upstanding person? Because, if you ask me, that right there is the fallacy. High schools waste not only time, but resources and money with these requirements. 2. Most students would not take these classes if they were not required. 3. The students who are force to take these classes through requirements, for the most part, do not use the class for any post school progressions in life. e.g. it's truly not useful in their life 4. These classes not being required would allow students to have a more focus base program for their college career and/or interest. 5. Ok, first off the entire plot was chewed up, swallowed, thrown up, eaten again and then crapped out. In the beginning of the movie they skipped an entire chapters worth of information, the acting was mediocre at best (they spoke too fast), the part about Sally and that army guy was just weird, they didn't include the romantic endeavors of Dave and the... girl whose name I can't recall, his rude neighbour wasn't black, and the crazy religious lady wasn't preaching Islamic, and finally the ending made me want to puke. Suffice it to say, this was the worst book to film adaptation of any Stepehn King book ever. (I'm not even that critical of movies, adapted from books or not, but this was just horrid, the only thing horrific about it was how bad it was) I await a rebuttal. He argued the point that many people have stated that music theory is nothing more than a stigma in a musicians creative mind, and that true music doesn't need these boundaries that were set forth way back when by the Greeks. As much as i respect the creativity of my fellow musicians, i don't believe this to be completely true. I believe that with 100% knowledge of all music theory, one has unreachable depths of creativity at his grasp, but since we as humans have such a limited time in this world, we do not have the ability to fully grasp music at its essence, but we can merely do the best we can. Since our public schools seek to provide just this, art and music are essential to give students a preparation for any career they might choose. Art in itself is a career, and artistic skills are used in many others, such as drafting and architecture. Music is also a career in itself. It is unconscionable that music or art should be removed from our school system. Removing them would leave a gaping hole for students who wish to enter those fields, and probably cause a drop in then number of artists or musicians. Some people have argued that art and music are fringe skills, and that they shouldn't be taught because (A) most students won't be going into art or music fields, (B) art and music are unnecessary and should be extracurricular anyway, and (C) they are not "vital" skills like 'readin', writin', and 'rithmetic.'
