We seem to be in a little bit of a dilemma. The budget crisis is terrible. I blame the Governor. Does anyone know when the next [elections for governor] are? Well anyway. I think they're cutting it 10-15%? D=!!! At my school, they built football stadium lights around our track, and we don't even have a proper field. We don't even have stands. They also chose to build baseball/softball dugouts, and out teams have never gotten close to the state championships. When our soccer teams don't have proper goal..things. And they have one the CIF[championships] for the past 3 years. My school is choosing to fund the athletics instead of the academics. They cut 600 staff/faculty members from my district for this coming school year. This means the class sizes are going to increase dramatically, and the overall success of students is going to decrease. I don't want to fail life! I want a quality education, along with the 3000 other kids that attend my http://www.debate.com/debates/Education-system-of-California./1/comments/ 2008-07-03T11:25:31-08:00 The No Child Left Behind program hinders the more capable. http://www.debate.com/debates/The-No-Child-Left-Behind-program-hinders-the-more-capable./1/ Short and simple is the way to keep opening arguments I believe so here it goes. No Child Left Behind hinders students that are more capable of learning. It also spends valuable tax money on students that will not affect society in largely positive way. Money should be spent on students and people that have potential. Why does society make us elaborate dreams and futures for kids that obviously won't have any. If a child shows potential at anytime or any subject that is valuable to society, then spend money, give time, offer assistance to that child in that subject. If a child shows no potential for anything but manual labor, don't force education on him. He will become, with the help of the school or without it, a man working a minimum wage job. http://www.debate.com/debates/The-No-Child-Left-Behind-program-hinders-the-more-capable./1/comments/ 2008-07-02T17:02:08-08:00 Can E-education Replace Classroom Taching? http://www.debate.com/debates/Can-E-education-Replace-Classroom-Taching/1/ I think computer can never play the role of a teacher in a student's life. If there were only computers and no humans, the interaction between a student and a teacher is totally lost. Moreover, computers are already organised and may not understand most of the doubts http://www.debate.com/debates/Can-E-education-Replace-Classroom-Taching/1/comments/ 2008-07-01T04:13:27-08:00 There should be NO homework on Halloween http://www.debate.com/debates/There-should-be-NO-homework-on-Halloween/1/ I believe that on Halloween teachers should not be allowed to give their students homework because Halloween and trick-or-treating is a tradition. Teachers excuse children because of religious traditions and holidays so why not Halloween. I look forward to ur debate. http://www.debate.com/debates/There-should-be-NO-homework-on-Halloween/1/comments/ 2008-07-02T16:11:38-08:00 Is homeschooling better than public school? http://www.debate.com/debates/Is-homeschooling-better-than-public-school/1/ I am seeing this through the eyes of a high schooler. I believe that homeschooling is better for a high schooler than public school. I will let my opponent give his argument first, because I don't want to let my crap outta the bag before i have an argument. http://www.debate.com/debates/Is-homeschooling-better-than-public-school/1/comments/ 2008-07-01T20:07:21-08:00 In my opinion, I think WSDC participants can be allowed to speak their mother tongue. http://www.debate.com/debates/In-my-opinion-I-think-WSDC-participants-can-be-allowed-to-speak-their-mother-tongue./1/ *cite from : http://www.idebate.org/discussion/view_topic.php?id=1942&forum_id=57 *Videos of Debate Championship -http://video.google.co.uk/videosearch?q=WSDC+&sitesearch=#q=WSDC%20&sitesearch= *WSDE : World Schools Debating Championships *My argument Participants of World Schools Debating Championships must use English in the current situation of contest. But I think this situation does not correspond with that Championships' purpose in that reason. So I think these participants can speak their own language, this Championships must accept participation of simultaneous interpreters. What are your opinions? 1. Debate participant's can learn highest ability of debate. -But non-English users cannot show their full ability of debate in the Championship because they have the language barrier. They should learn English and debate skills at once. But English users need to only learn debate skills. This situation is unfair. So I propose this Championship's accept p http://www.debate.com/debates/In-my-opinion-I-think-WSDC-participants-can-be-allowed-to-speak-their-mother-tongue./1/comments/ 2008-06-27T05:53:19-08:00 High school students should be required to learn a foreign language. http://www.debate.com/debates/High-school-students-should-be-required-to-learn-a-foreign-language./1/ List your points; it doesn't have to be in paragraph format. -Only 5.6% of the people on Earth speak English as a primary language. If those that spoke it as a secondary or a third were counted, only 4/5 of the world's population would not be English speakers. -You could possibly have more career options as a travel tour guide or a translator. -You would be able to listen in and fully experience the "everyday life" on a trip to a foreign country. http://www.debate.com/debates/High-school-students-should-be-required-to-learn-a-foreign-language./1/comments/ 2008-06-30T11:41:55-08:00 today's children are robbed off their childhood http://www.debate.com/debates/today-s-children-are-robbed-off-their-childhood/1/ today's children are definetely robbed off their chilhood.their exposed to materialiastic things like television, gameboys, psp, video games etc.when i used to be a child i used to love to play in gardens, parks, beaches, and all the places near to nature but today if you ask a child to go to play or take them to gardens they hate it and find it very boring and better prefer going to a video game parlour. http://www.debate.com/debates/today-s-children-are-robbed-off-their-childhood/1/comments/ 2008-06-25T18:16:37-08:00 Deaf Kids matter,so why are they cheated out of their education. http://www.debate.com/debates/Deaf-Kids-matter-so-why-are-they-cheated-out-of-their-education./1/ It is a shame that some schools don't have any specialist in the schools to help death children persue a career, by getting their education. They are just important as any other normal kid. I think that if a child has the ability to learn then he or she should be able to learn like any average child. http://www.debate.com/debates/Deaf-Kids-matter-so-why-are-they-cheated-out-of-their-education./1/comments/ 2008-06-26T09:09:56-08:00 modern living has made the people of india sick, weak and disease prone http://www.debate.com/debates/modern-living-has-made-the-people-of-india-sick-weak-and-disease-prone/1/ the poor have become poorer due to modern living which has made them sick weak and disease prone.the poor become sick because of natural reasons and not due to modern living.rich make themselves sick http://www.debate.com/debates/modern-living-has-made-the-people-of-india-sick-weak-and-disease-prone/1/comments/ 2008-06-26T12:50:55-08:00 Sex Education should be taught in public schools. http://www.debate.com/debates/Sex-Education-should-be-taught-in-public-schools./1/ I think that the title basically speaks for itself as well as the definitions. So on with my opening. Contentions: I. A bias free education is the right of every child, including sex education especially since virtually 100% of them will use it, even in marriage. II. To not teach sex education would be harmful to students III. The facts should be taught in school, morals should be taught at home because morals differ from family to family. http://www.debate.com/debates/Sex-Education-should-be-taught-in-public-schools./1/comments/ 2008-06-15T08:47:22-08:00 The Junior Certificate should be banned http://www.debate.com/debates/The-Junior-Certificate-should-be-banned/1/ Ladies and Gentlemen, thank you for reading my blah blah blah blah blah! Right, now we've got that over with, let the debate begin! I will begin by providing definitions: The Junior Certificate (from now on shortened to JC) is a series of examinations taken by students attending secondary schools in Ireland at the ages of 15 to 16. It is the Irish counterpart of the English GCSE's. I think the words "should be banned" are self explanatory and do not need defining unless my opponent wishes (I will be happy to oblige if they ask) What is so terrible about the big, bad JC? Well allow me to explain with a few short anecdotes... 1) Little Timmy was a young boy approaching the age of sweet sixteen. He was, as all teenagers are, awkward and unsure of himself. When the time of the exams cam around Timmy got his pencil case together, with all 16 of his spare pens (you can thank his over the top parents for that one) and various writing equipment. When he entered the exami http://www.debate.com/debates/The-Junior-Certificate-should-be-banned/1/comments/ 2008-06-19T02:01:05-08:00 VOLIENT VIDEO GAMES SHOULD BE BANNED http://www.debate.com/debates/VOLIENT-VIDEO-GAMES-SHOULD-BE-BANNED/1/ i think that they should banned vloient video games because many kids try and do the same thing that they do on the game and somtimes they get hurt or they hurt the others for and example grand theft auto they have people beatting up otheres for now reason and also have thing with them sellin drugs and all of that snd that get to som of the kids that have that game insteade of scool. http://www.debate.com/debates/VOLIENT-VIDEO-GAMES-SHOULD-BE-BANNED/1/comments/ 2008-06-14T17:11:52-08:00 The School System is flawed http://www.debate.com/debates/The-School-System-is-flawed/1/ See what the teachers stress is how you should get good grades, but the real point of going to school is to learn information on how to survive the future. The School system was made for students to learn information, but all the teachers really do is ethier; give you a easy ride through a class, say that want you just to pass their class ( Whether or Not learn the knowledge.), or they just don't teach the right information. There are cheaters which cheat off of other people and make A's, while others who work hard make C's and D's but the ones who make C's and D's know the information. For say that you cheat all the way up to collage and then you cheat there to get you Medical Degree. Well when it comes to do surgery on someone then they don't know what too do. There is no possible way to make all students stop cheating, as well that some cheat until they turn old enough to drop out. Which means they are practically worthless. Alot of the times they would try and go into http://www.debate.com/debates/The-School-System-is-flawed/1/comments/ 2008-06-06T10:44:48-08:00 I am always right? http://www.debate.com/debates/I-am-always-right/1/ I have looked at some of your other debates and according to them you got, how do you say OWNED??? Second, This provides you to be an extemely arrogant person. Third, I am a KGB spy and according to our views, we are very similar. Just thought i'd point that out. http://www.debate.com/debates/I-am-always-right/1/comments/ 2008-05-28T16:43:40-08:00 Teachers don't make enough money. http://www.debate.com/debates/Teachers-don-t-make-enough-money./1/ Teachers, what would we do without them? Not a whole lot when you think about it. So why aren't they paid as much as doctors, entertainers, lawyers, etc. We would not have doctors without teachers, nor entertainers or lawyers. Without teachers the world would be, quite frankly, "in the crapper". Why then are the taught paid more than the teachers? The pupil's salaries surpass the pedagogue's. I await for my opponent, and would in advance like to thank them, and wish them good luck. Sincerely, Kat http://www.debate.com/debates/Teachers-don-t-make-enough-money./1/comments/ 2008-06-01T12:49:20-08:00 should citizenship be taught in schools? http://www.debate.com/debates/should-citizenship-be-taught-in-schools/1/ in a multi-cultural society everybody must know they're roots but everybody must comply to the rules of the society they're living in http://www.debate.com/debates/should-citizenship-be-taught-in-schools/1/comments/ 2008-05-25T15:45:01-08:00 Schools should have an online library system. http://www.debate.com/debates/Schools-should-have-an-online-library-system./1/ Basically, I'm saying that middle and high school libraries should have an online system so that students can reserve a book and come to school and know it is there, just like public libraries. I know at my school that the only way to look up a book is to be in the library doing it. This makes it hard to know if a book is there or not and you are just wasting your time. I'm interested in hearing what my opponent says. Thank you very much. http://www.debate.com/debates/Schools-should-have-an-online-library-system./1/comments/ 2008-06-03T12:00:58-08:00 In-school suspension for fighting is better than out-of-school suspension. http://www.debate.com/debates/In-school-suspension-for-fighting-is-better-than-out-of-school-suspension./1/ I believe in-school suspension is better because most kids want to be out of school anyway, so I think of it as a punishment. http://www.debate.com/debates/In-school-suspension-for-fighting-is-better-than-out-of-school-suspension./1/comments/ 2008-06-02T14:52:48-08:00 LIFE IS AN ONION http://www.debate.com/debates/LIFE-IS-AN-ONION/1/ life is full of ups and downs.. it is a vicious circle..which is full of sorrows and happiness.. when we see onion it is covered with several layers similarly a human life is covered with several roles.. and each role is full of responsiblities which might look good from outer side (like an onion) but as u come across it different phases u start realising the obstacles, hurdles -destiny brings for u.. when we cut onion tears comes out of our eyes.. similarly when someone hurts our feeling or doesn't meet to our expectation we feel depressed and undergo same situation.. http://www.debate.com/debates/LIFE-IS-AN-ONION/1/comments/ 2008-05-24T05:41:33-08:00
