There is simply not enough information available until you join. for instance 1. I have no idea how long I have to respond to a debate. 2. There is no area that explains things like short hand for arguments 3. There is no place that discusses what would be considered "good form" an appropriate way of interacting with each other, other than what i am not allowed to say. 4. As I am typing there is a little counter counting down. But I don't know if there is a way to adjust it or if the "next round" (something i discovered by reading through the completed debates) will have the same amount of characters. http://www.debate.com/debates/Debate.com-should-have-more-information-available-before-you-become-a-member./1/comments/ 2008-08-01T08:58:40-08:00 PS3 is better than Xbox 360 http://www.debate.com/debates/PS3-is-better-than-Xbox-360/2/ 1. system features Now the looks come into affect first. The ps3 doesn't look like a grill and whoever thinks it does is a moron. Even critics agree that the ps3 is sexy. I think they say that because the 360 fan boys are jealous because their 360 looks like a old dell PC. Now also ps3 can be customized like the 360. Except it's now just plastic, it's actually a paint job so it's for real. Now let's talk about the controllers. Before we go I have to admit, I love the 360 controller. Now the 360 fan boys say that the ps3 copied the home button. Actually the psp and the psx had a home button long before the 360 did. Also the ps3 controller didn't copy motion control from the wii.(oh by the, the 360 controller has no motion control or Siaxis) motion control has been in arcades for years. Also the ps3 was announced before the Wii so it stole nothing. By the way the ps1 had a motion control controller in 1999. also the ps3 controller has rumble just like the 360 controller, i http://www.debate.com/debates/PS3-is-better-than-Xbox-360/2/comments/ 2008-08-08T11:01:02-08:00 isabella latuga is a really anoyying and stinky person!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://www.debate.com/debates/isabella-latuga-is-a-really-anoyying-and-stinky-person/1/ isabella is areally silly easily distracted student and that is why i dont like her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://www.debate.com/debates/isabella-latuga-is-a-really-anoyying-and-stinky-person/1/comments/ 2008-08-04T04:18:47-08:00 Does internet have bad effets in terms of social relationships? http://www.debate.com/debates/Does-internet-have-bad-effets-in-terms-of-social-relationships/1/ I thought it could be an interesting topic, so I'm starting this topic. I don't have arguments yet, so anyone who would want to debate has to skip the first round. http://www.debate.com/debates/Does-internet-have-bad-effets-in-terms-of-social-relationships/1/comments/ 2008-07-30T15:09:23-08:00 Cloning animals and people http://www.debate.com/debates/Cloning-animals-and-people/1/ I do not think that the cloning of animals is a good thing that scientists should work into. I think that cloning an animal would not be a good thing to do. I say this because first of all there are hundreds, yes hundreds of failures before 1 single success will happen. Another thing to be noted is when it comes to age, it has been verified that because of the genetic material that will be placed into the new "host" will cause the new creation to be "older than itself". Betsy, one of the first cloned animals died at age six, but genetically was twelve years old. It came down with arthritis and lung disease, its death factor. Lung disease is common in sheep at their older stages. With this information its easy to state that when you clone an animal or person, their life expectancy will not be as high as normal. When it comes to cloning humans, there will be alot of wasted embryos. There will be alot of dead failures. And so what if we find out how to clone a human. Sexual reproductio http://www.debate.com/debates/Cloning-animals-and-people/1/comments/ 2008-08-06T20:00:34-08:00 Some UFO's ARE from another planet. http://www.debate.com/debates/Some-UFO-s-ARE-from-another-planet./1/ To clarify the definition of UFO's before the debate: UFO's are unidentified flying objects, even if something is not an alien spacecraft it can still be a UFO. But just because some UFO's may not infact be alien spacecraft this does not mean the rest aren't which is what this debate will be about. My first point is that life on Earth is most likely not unique. With a universe as infinite as ours and with the building blocks of life littered across the galaxies you would be foolish to think Earth is the only planet to support life. Logic and reason can tell us that there are most likely other worlds with life, however this is not the subject of this debate. The subject of this debate is whether or not life forms from these other planets are developed enough to travel the vast distance of space to Earth and whether or not their spacecraft have been spotted by humans on occasions. Spanning back to the start of human records, there have been several sightings of strange objects in http://www.debate.com/debates/Some-UFO-s-ARE-from-another-planet./1/comments/ 2008-07-22T09:42:49-08:00 Should child labour continue http://www.debate.com/debates/Should-child-labour-continue/1/ First of all, unless we are disabled, we should all work for ourselves. Second of all, children are the future, and if you hurt the kid, you are ruining the childs hopes and dreams. http://www.debate.com/debates/Should-child-labour-continue/1/comments/ 2008-07-15T21:36:14-08:00 Does technology make our lives better. http://www.debate.com/debates/Does-technology-make-our-lives-better./1/ I am inclined to favor the idea that technology does enrich our lives. It provides us with a huge quantity of information and entertainment. For example, if you search something in the internet, you will see tons of information about it, and some of that you could not find otherwise. Even though our modern technology provides us with these sorts of amazing services, pessimists have a different perspective. Pessimists point out that technology is destroying our relationships and creating security threats, but can they state that technology affects our lives in a negative way just because it sometimes causes problems in our communities? No. All things and choices have some unpleasant consequences, and we just have to bear them. Also, they should consider about how technology can be very useful in weather forecasting, medical treatment, warfare, and etc…. http://www.debate.com/debates/Does-technology-make-our-lives-better./1/comments/ 2008-07-12T00:45:23-08:00 video games are a waste of time and money http://www.debate.com/debates/video-games-are-a-waste-of-time-and-money/1/ con it is actually proven if you play half and hour of a video game it is the equivalent to walking 3 mils an hour for 30 mins http://www.debate.com/debates/video-games-are-a-waste-of-time-and-money/1/comments/ 2008-07-08T22:42:17-08:00 Beliving in technology that will make the world easier will lead to the end of life as we know it. http://www.debate.com/debates/Beliving-in-technology-that-will-make-the-world-easier-will-lead-to-the-end-of-life-as-we-know-it./1/ If you haven't seen Terminater you will know what I mean. Modern Blogs have much greater flexibility with regard to formatting and character limit. Modern blogs allow for much greater voting flexibility allowing for a much clearer picture of consensus. Modern blogs reach a much larger audience. Debate.com has already shown itself to be capable of censorship thus negating any sort of third party non partial peer review type advantage. Modern blogs have multiple backup options. Modern blogs increase in features almost daily, where as I'm still waiting on debate.com to be updated. http://www.debate.com/debates/Debate.com-is-superfluous-if-not-detrimental-in-the-face-of-modern-blogging-technology./1/comments/ 2008-07-06T17:40:44-08:00 High gas prices http://www.debate.com/debates/High-gas-prices/1/ The minimum wage today which will soon be passed is $6.55. Gas prices are now just over $4.00. this is about 61% of a person's hourly income. In 1972, the minimum wage was $1.60, while gas was $0.92. Gas was about 58% of a person's hourly income. However, the average gas mileage back then was about 13 miles per gallon whereas today it is approximately 22 miles per gallon. (cato.org) Today, in the face of global warming, there needs to be some incentive to come up with alternatives. Jimmy Carter, though not a perfect president, tried to get us to become less dependent on foreign oil and come up with better alternatives. Since then, global warming has just been getting worse and there is only so much attainable oil left. Well, that was 30 years ago. Though a handful of states (California, Oregon, Washington, the New England states as well as New York and Pennsylvania), have come up with some ideas, the government has not sufficiently funded programs that try to encourage bio-diese http://www.debate.com/debates/High-gas-prices/1/comments/ 2008-07-10T09:01:17-08:00 Nintendo VS. Sony- The final decision. My stance- Nitendo owns all. http://www.debate.com/debates/Nintendo-VS.-Sony-The-final-decision.-My-stance-Nitendo-owns-all./1/ The beginning of this debate will more than likely both begin and end with this statement- "Nintendo is better". Please, if you're a Sony fanboy, don't let the basis of your argument be "buT it haz b3tt3R gr@pHixxorz!!!1!1!!1", because, the only things graphics do are visual. Nintendo owns because contrary to popular belief, it does have Mature games as well as the family-oriented ones. Pushing that aside, I have strong reason to believe that Sony is a thief- It's "revolutionary" Sixaxis. Hmm... Motion sensing... Sounds familiar. In fact, almost IDENTICAL to Nintendo's Wii, whose motion sensing was announced long before Playstation 3. Not only are they thieves, they can't be very smart. Here's the story- In the period between SNES and N64, Nintendo and Sony were *gasp* working together. On a project called Playstation. But then sony broke the deal at the last second. Not only was that stupid, but they just ripped the name from their ex-partners without so much as a "thanks". Now to pr http://www.debate.com/debates/Nintendo-VS.-Sony-The-final-decision.-My-stance-Nitendo-owns-all./1/comments/ 2008-07-09T08:15:00-08:00 Story Challenge: Moat Maiden http://www.debate.com/debates/Story-Challenge-Moat-Maiden/1/ I would like to introduce an exercise (story challenge) in which PRO and CON incrementally develop what, in the end, becomes an interactive short story. This is probably best explained through an example. After the example are a few parameters, to which compliance is implicit in accepting this "debate". Following that, I present the Round 1 opening to Moat Maiden. Note that the rounds can be brief. Think Groo meets MacGyver. -- Noel Leon /-------------------- Worked Example: PRO Round 1 -------------------- This is not quite a safari, in not quite a canoe. For my budget river rafting, a kayak has to do. From origin to terminus, I'd paddle fast and free. That was until around the bend, got stuck in this eddy. The vortex spins my river craft, yet grips it fast in place. To sink for lack of towing force, to vanish without trace. 1 The kayak is spinning. The compass is spinning. My head is spinning. And all the counter-paddling to put an end to this spi http://www.debate.com/debates/Story-Challenge-Moat-Maiden/1/comments/ 2008-06-28T21:21:09-08:00 Xbox (original) is one of the best consoles out there. Or atleast during it's time. http://www.debate.com/debates/Xbox-original-is-one-of-the-best-consoles-out-there.-Or-atleast-during-it-s-time./1/ Xbox was an outstanding product for consumers.Being the first console to deliver stunning graphics, ability to play and rip music to the xbox's hard drive, the ability to play dvd's and the ability to connect with millions across the globe. I would like someone to try and challenge and me. please. i will debate the rest later and keep all my key points once i have a challenger. http://www.debate.com/debates/Xbox-original-is-one-of-the-best-consoles-out-there.-Or-atleast-during-it-s-time./1/comments/ 2008-06-14T18:46:32-08:00 computers are taking over the world http://www.debate.com/debates/computers-are-taking-over-the-world/1/ Computers an essential part in our everyday lives, and most people would not be able to perform their daily tasks or complete their job requirements without the assistance of a computer http://www.debate.com/debates/computers-are-taking-over-the-world/1/comments/ 2008-06-06T00:41:04-08:00 Technology is not a necessity http://www.debate.com/debates/Technology-is-not-a-necessity/1/ Technology makes things easier but is not necessary we can live without it it may help us with information and cooking but there was a time when we didnt have all of that and people it was just fine. http://www.debate.com/debates/Technology-is-not-a-necessity/1/comments/ 2008-06-09T07:01:14-08:00
