| About Me: | I am a strongly opinionated, fairly intelligent (I hope) individual. I believe that I am open-minded as a general rule. I enjoy random facts, especially statistics, and finding ways to interject them into totally unrelated conversations. I devour books and love music. I find politics and history fascinating. To most people (even my friends) I often seem a little strange, but I'm okay with that. I am articulate and a policy debater (and I have five pieces of evidence to support this....). I love asking why. If I don't know much about an issue, I thoroughly enjoy being educated about it. I often play devil's advocate. I tend towards skepticism as a general rule. |

| Beliefs: | I am an idealist, but I try to be realistic. I am fairly strongly liberal. I am not religious (I call myself sansdei), but I am in no way against religion. Though I do have a problem with it when it is exclusionary or hinders rational thought and decision making or gets in the way of personal happiness for a person/group/population. I am also against using religion to dictate law. I believe in government, but I also hold personal freedoms dear. I think the Constitution is a brilliant document, but it obviously cannot provide for every future problem, and thus is not the absolute and final letter of the law. I believe that humanity as a whole does not show a lot of wisdom, but I am enough of an optimist to hope that we won't destroy ourselves anytime soon. I am a pacifist and believe that war is the final failure of the democratic process and a recourse to a vicious circle of primitive means. I like to listen to any argument that has intellectual merit. |
| Books: | Too many to list. I like fantasy especially, but I'll read anything well-written and engaging. |
| Music: | I love everything. Music is my life, and I listen to classical, showtunes, hip hop, classic rock, pop, metal, country . . . anything good. |
| Quotes: | "The trouble ain't that there is too many fools, but that the lightning ain't distributed right." - Mark Twain |
| Sports Teams: | I don't really follow sports. |

One Personal Finance Credit Should Be Required In High School

There are many problems in modern America, but I feel a substantial one is the lack of personal fiscal responsibility. To put it simply, many people leave high school and enter the "real world" with no idea how to manage, save, and spend money. To support this claim, I point to the recent downturn in the American economy. A substantial portion of the problem has been attributed to home foreclosures. And why are homes being foreclosed upon? For one of four reasons. 1) The bank loaned money to a p...
The Existence of a "Supreme Being," "Creator," or "God" is not Debatable
And here I am, debating whether or not something is debatable . . . oh well. Here goes. There quite simply cannot and never will be a resolution to the debate over God. This is true because of the nature of religion. Religion depends on faith, or unquestioning acceptance of powers and motives deemed "too big" for us. Thus, whenever evidence is presented supporting scientific theory, a religious person can simply respond that yes, that's right, but it exists/is true/works because it is God's will...
