The Democratic Party has been hijacked by the radical left.

This trend over the last 40 years is incredible. From McGovern to Carter to Dukakis to Bill Clinton to Al Gore to John Kerry to John Edwards, Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama, why is it that the only candidates in serious contention for the Democratic nomination are all hard left-wing democrats? What happened to the left of center moderate democrat? Does that even exist anymore? Do you liberals realize that if you ran a moderate Democrat, YOU WOULD SWEEP THIS ELECTION BY A LANDSLIDE. But no, th...
Thank the libs for high gas prices.

The idiot libs in the Senate and the House blame Bush for the high gas prices when they are ones blocking the drilling in ANWAR. This is libs at their finest: ideology over common sense....
The Government should outlaw guns.

My second debate...my first of which I was thrashed by the commentors...so here goes. The U.S. government should not even consider trying to take guns away from the American people. Reason why I believe this is because it's more than likely going to end up like the Prohibition attempt--doing more harm than good. If the gov't were to take away our guns to try to "limit violence and crime ratings," the opposite effect will take place. There will be riots and guns being bought and sold below...
Taboo against the N-word is irrational.

I would like to start out this debate by saying welcome. My first argument is the degradation of the arts using this word. The book i will be discussing is "To Kill A Mockingbird" This is a book concerning the 30's and about acceptance and all that. The problem is in many cases this book is being band for the use of the n-word. This is one of the great books in american and it is a key book for teens to read, but because of the taboo against the n-word people are being denied this chance....
Drugs should be legalized in the U.S.

There's not any real background information, except that drugs are currently illegal in the U.S. But you should know that. I am in favor of legal drug use and drug dealing in the U.S. Point 1: The government loses alot of potential revenue on illegal drug dealing. According to the BBC (British Broadcasting Company), the drug-dealing black market made an estimated $400 billion in 2000, which was more than was spent on food at that time. If such trafficking was not illegal, the government co...
Death Penalty

The death penalty is designed to be a punishment for heinous crimes and represents somewhat of an "eye for an eye" approach to sentencing. In theory, this seems fair at the outset but if we really address the goal of punishment, I maintain that the death penalty is not effective in reaching this goal and instead represents one of the greatest potential injustices that could occur. The goals of punishment are primarily a) to impose some responsibilty for someone's actions upon them (the crimin...
The United States education system should be changed.

The United States seems so grand. Freedom, liberty, everything we need -- within our own country. America is not a country to be confined within itself. Let us take a look at the U.S. education. I will go over the five "main" courses. In mathematics, the U.S. is failing. East Asian countries, namely Korea, Japan, etc., are consistently scoring higher in the International Mathematical Olympiad. Adapting the mathematics teaching to a system similar to the Chinese, Korean, Japanese, or even Roma...
