Ask a liberal why health insurance ought to be provided by the government, and they will tell you it is a necessity, and one that too many people cannot afford. Welfare should not be long-term
By "long-term" I am referring to indefinitely, or a period of time longer than 3-6 months. Now, I understand that some people on welfare have a good reason to be on it (i.e. they were laid off, fired, or some other personal financial tragedy), and welfare is there to pick them up until they can find a job.
